Melihat lebih jauh – a good read

Pertama tentang seorang tukang pipa (plumber). Alkisah, bos perusahaan otomotif terbesar di Jerman sedang pusing karena pipa keran airnya bocor, ia takut anaknya yang masih kecil terjatuh. Setelah bertanya ke sana-kemari, ditemukan seorang tukang terbaik. Melalui pembicaraan telepon, sang tukang menjanjikan dua hari lagi untuk memperbaiki pipa keran sang bos. Esoknya, sang tukang justru menelepon sang bos dan mengucapkan terima kasih. Sang bos sedikit bingung.

Keduanya bukan kelas manusia sedang atau biasa (good people).

Itulah tipikal manusia biasa saja. Upaya ini memerlukan pengorbanan diri sebab hanya dengan menjadi good people seperti selama ini saja, toh tak ada yang mengusik kita, tetap bisa bekerja dengan nyaman, dan seterusnya. Maka, pemberontakan untuk bebas dari kondisi good people itu harus dari diri sendiri dulu. Ingat petuah Jim Collins, good is the enemy of great. Melihat lebih jauh, beyond the job! Padahal, untuk menjadi great people, great leader, great father, great manager, dan seterusnya, lebih diperlukan kemampuan mempersembahkan ”KVI kehidupan” kita, yang biasanya justru tidak mudah diukur.

Self revelation

#1 I eat too much chips ever since I got here. I got 5 kilos up in weight.

#2 I’ve seen too many drama series back then

#3 I sometimes feel annoyed by companion and feel better to stay alone. (Autism syndrome ?)

#4 I’ve wasted too much time by surfing

#5 I guess I recently put my self onto less hoping state.

#6 So these might be the excuses for that: Less to hope, less to be hoped, less to disappoint, less to be disappointed, less to have, less to lose.

#7 Me being lazy is much often than me being diligent.

#8 I already forgot how to deal with ‘that’ stuff. I have no idea how to start, how to make and so on.

#9 I missed Sahur time for 9 times until now.

#10 I often stay up until dawn.

#11 I’ve spent lots of money here.

#12 I sometimes forget to save some.

#13 I’m afraid of being single but afraid even more of being a couple.

#14 Just realized that I’ve done so many excuses for my owns sake back then.

#15 I am now too much in self attention.

#16 I broke my cousin’s finest pullover.

#17 Words I regret the most of missing them out lately: ‘and yours?’

#18 I was a mean girl some time ago.

I wish I can change later on, in whichever part that I should.

Alhamdulillaah bentar lag Idul Fitri..

Smoga disucikan kembali…

Yeay, 6 days left.

:)

Songs of August

Beside the independence song of Indonesia, which should be all the Indonesian citizen’s song of the month, I’ll put these two as my songs of the month.

1# Jason Mraz – Make it mine

No hesitate that this song is an immensely wonderful song. Its lyric, melody, and music arrangement are well done (even when only played by Mraz’s only voice and his only accoustic guitar, It’s still nice yet enjoyable). Why did I put this into my thread as songs of August? I finally recollected Mraz’s album by this month. It’s been 4 months since the catastrophe of losing throughout my data in my PC happened.
I play this song more than 20 times a day. I won’t get bored until I find my next songs of the month. kekekek.

2# Kath Bloom – Come Here (OST Before Sunrise)

The second song, hmmm…
I just madly HEART this movie, one of my favorite movie ever. It’s like no other romance movie. Somehow It looks too real to be a movie. kekekek.
I watched this years ago. But something that has happened to me recently, has brought me the desire to replay its soundtrack and re watch some scenes. kekekek.

Selamat berpuasa

Tadi pagi sepupu mainin piano lagu lawas ini. Liriknya bagus…

Didi Mirhard – Renungan

RENUNGAN

Dikesunyian ku merenung
Duduk bersimpuh
Berkawan malam
Terpejam mata tanpa bersuara
Menghayati getaran jiwa

Tiada kata yang terucap
Saat sinarMu datang menyapa
Betapa kecil diriku ini
Dibatas bayangMu

Datanglah sepanjang hari
Jangan lepas lagi
Dekap diri ini dalam pelukanMu

Puji syukur padaMu Tuhan
Hanya padaMu kuberlindung

Rigi Kulm (Lucerne, Switzerland)

on August 14th 2009, I went to the top of Mount Rigi, Rigi Kulm, also named as “Queen of the Mountains”, with the mountainrailway (The first mountainrailway in Europe). Mt. Rigi is part of The Alps. It is situated in Lucerne, Switzerland.
on my way to the top

on my way to the top

getting closer to the top

getting closer to the top

here I am on the top

here I am on the top

Rigi Kulm (Lucerne, Switzerland) - August 14th 2009

Rigi Kulm (Lucerne, Switzerland) - August 14th 2009

If I take this kind of journey as one of life’s analogy. Attempting to be at the top is might be the purpose, on my way there,  I’ll learn first how to get there, whether to take train, heli, or hiking. Then I’ll meet people. There are things on my left and right. As well as life, all the things I’m going to passing by, can be captured and memorised but some will just go by the way they are. These sort of things, I’d like to name them as : KNOWLEDGE and MEMORIES.

Being on the top doesn’t always mean I’m huge and good. I sometimes need to look down, and realise how small I am actually. As I looked against the nature at that time; I felt nothing but small; I just stood there and thought : “It’s stunningly beautiful, but it’s not mine nor my creation. This nature belongs to God”, so how priceless it will be, if I just instantly go there without having knowledge and memories. These sort of things, I’d like to name them as : GRATITUDE.

My just-a-thought will be, “It doesn’t matter whether I fail or succeed. Because even if I’m on the top, What I have at the time is just not mine. Ultimately I won’t bring them anywhere, what matter is the way I get these knowledge and memories and making life with those. With gratitude I’ll live happily and loveful. “

Time is a tree

Where has the time flown? The more I think, the stranger It feels that some of those plans were just brimming (without traces) with all that much-yet-wasted time.

Regret always comes way too late.

Maybe it’s true, that :

“Time is not a river. Time is a tree. Branches, roots, limbs, the leafing. Time defoliates. Time buds. Time cracks.”

— Robert Boswell from The Heyday of the Insensitive Bastards, one of O’s 25 Books of Summer

…and when it’s already cracked up.

I ought to find a new tree. There’s no way you can fix living things that are already cracked up (physically, not mentally). Yes I realised, Time is not just a “noun” in English, It’s one living thing, which when it passes away, as well as death, It will never ever come back to you howsoever.

….but it’s never too late to start all over again.

Semangat, Hwaiting, Viel Glück!!!

How I praise Mike, MJ, Michael Jordan

I’ve been adoring his play since I was kid.

Until I read “How to be like MIKE” years ago, not only praising his play, since then I praise more of what he has done with his life.

MJ’s Act

The author of the book has made handy checklist of attitudes, how to be like MIKE, based on MJ ways of living. These are what the author has written.

1. Focus – Train your mind to concentrate upon the essentials and discard the frivolous and unimportant.

With a game on the line, MJ could achieve a level of focus no one else could reach. His concentration was impenetrable, part of his genius.

2. Passion and Energy – Enthusiasm is one of the greatest emotions. Without it there’s no achievement. With it, a new idea can win over an old idea.

Michael  is passionate about basketball and truly loved playing. His energy level allowed him to overcome fatigue in remarkable, transcendent way.

3. Hard work -  If you want to leave your footprints on the sands of time, you’d better wear work shoes.

Difficult as it is to recall, MJ did have weaknesses when he entered the NBA, but he works tirelessly to improve and soon those weaknesses -defense and outside shooting- became his added strengths.

4. Perseverance - Perseverance is not a long race, it’s many short races, one after another.

MJ won through his will. He was such a tough opponent because he would never quit.

5. Responsibility

MJ lives and thrives under a microscope. This visibility intensifies his sense of responsibility to his sport, family, community, and country.

6. Influence – The greatest of motivational principles is : people do what people see.

What an influence MJ has been to millions. He is truly the role model’s role model. He personifies how to conduct oneself on and off the court.

7. Competing and Winning – Winners expect to win in advanced. Life is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I believe his competitive juices boil. It is known far and wide that he hates to lose.

8. Teamwork – People support what they help create

MJ is the ultimate one-on-one player, yet he understands that winning big is determined by involving his teammates.

9. Leadership – Good leadership should do more than attract followers, it should produce more leaders.

MJ leads by example. He demands no more from his teammates than he demands for himself.

10. Respect, trust, loyalty – There’s only one thing finer than a friend you can trust, that’s one who trust you.

He has respect to teh game and the people in the game, and he reveres his predecessors who provided the foundation for today’s NBA. When you respect people, they trust you, and trust breeds loyalty. For example, the loyalty MJ had for coach Phil Jackson is rare in our profession.

11. Character – We all want character, but not the trials that produce it. You can’t build a character in cocoon.

He is certainly not perfect. He is flawed like the rest of us. It’s obvious that quality of character has been embedded in his make up. How else can one explain his dicipline, humility, honesty, integrity, and courage?

And his proof :

TOP 10 AMAZING FROM MICHAEL JORDAN

My heart was palpitating while I was watching this :D . It came from a man, who was just a nothing back then, and knowing the way he reached his goals and the way he’s been living his life-such as focus, passion, hard work, perseverance and accountability- makes him special, and so does this video. I guess, it’s not only matter of being superstar at the moment, but moreover how they could make it real and how they deal with all of those afterwards are the most precious thing. It’s matter of the process they’ve been passing through. I adore you MJ!!! :)

MJ’s words

Here are some from MJ :

“Nothing of value comes without being earned. That’s why great leaders are those who lead by example first. You can’t demand respect because of a title or a position and expect people to follow. That might work for a little while, but in the long run people respond to what they see.”

“It all started with an appetite to prove. Whether it was competing with my siblings or trying to get attention from my parents, I wanted to show what I could do, what I was capable of accomplishing. I wanted results, and I was driven to find out the best way to get them.”

“Always turn a negative situation into a positive situation.”

“I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying.”

“I play to win, whether during practice or a real game. And I will not let anything get in the way of me and my competitive enthusiasm to win.”

“If you’re trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I’ve had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.”

“Just play. Have fun. Enjoy the game.”

“My attitude is that if you push me towards something that you think is a weakness, then I will turn that perceived weakness into a strength.”

“Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.”

“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.”

“To be successful you have to be selfish, or else you never achieve. And once you get to your highest level, then you have to be unselfish. Stay reachable. Stay in touch. Don’t isolate.”

“You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them.”

“I’ve always believed that if you put in the work, the results will come. I don’t do things half-heartedly. Because I know if I do, then I can expect half-hearted results.”

“I know fear is an obstacle for some people, but it is an illusion to me . . . Failure always made me try harder next time.”

“My body could stand the crutches but my mind couldn’t stand the sideline.”

“I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

“There are plenty of teams in every sport that have great players and never win titles. Most of the time, those players aren’t willing to sacrifice for the greater good of the team. The funny thing is, in the end, their unwillingness to sacrifice only makes individual goals more difficult to achieve. One thing I believe to the fullest is that if you think and achieve as a team, the individual accolades will take care of themselves. Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.”

“But my drive to win is so great … I just step over that line. … It’s very embarrassing, … one of the things you totally regret. So you look at yourself in the mirror and say, ‘I was stupid.’ “

Those are not just ordinary WORDS/QUOTES.  He is a man who has not only words that’s coming out of his mouth, though he created those based on his act. He has the proof of his words. Some might be just a quotes-maker, but MJ has words that come out of not only his mouth but also out of his act.

Inspirational and motivational message

Inspirational presentation

It has such nice pictures and some wisdom words within. A must see video.

You’re put on this earth with one chance, with no rules for what you can achieve.

Failure is simply telling you, to change your plan and try again, no limit to how far you can go

Don’t let one day go by without being thankful, for absolutely everything you have, and for all the people in your life

To get your dream life, you must know exactly what you want, take persistent action towards it.

“If you don’t know where you’re going, how can you expect to get there?” — Basil S. Walsh

“We make a living by what we get, but make a life by what we give.”   — Winston Churchcill
